In Friday's practice, Jimmie Johnson lost control of an Aston Martin DB4 GT Lightweight valued at 2.5 million dollars; on Saturday, he bounced back to dominate the Stirling Moss GT Extravaganza race alongside teammate Dario Franchitti.

The seven-time NASCAR champion and four-time IndyCar champion teamed up to race in the British vintage race. This is the fourth year that Goodwood Revival has run the Stirling Moss honored race, comprised of all pre-1963 closed cockpit GTs with over 3 liters of displacement.

Johnson was the first in the cockpit and started ninth in the race after repairs were made to the vehicle after his practice crash. By the time he entered St Mary's, he was in fourth, and before the first lap of the 45-minute timed event was completed, he was in the lead.

After Franchitti was swapped into the driver's seat, a mid-race safety car bunched up the field and eliminated the championship duo's lead. Franchitti was able to stay out front and pull away again before, ultimately, a red flag with 1:15 remaining ended the race when the No. 20 lost control, weaved through traffic, and ultimately ended up in a tire barrier.

Johnson, dressed in vintage garb, was handed a cigar during his victory lane interview.

What an honor," Johnson said. "This is an event that I don’t want to miss. I’ve always dreamed of coming here and competing. My time in the States is quite busy, but I finally was able to come in 2022.

It is such an incredible team. Big thanks and credit to the team. I kind of scratched the back of it in the rain, and they were able to fix the car and get it back on track. Of course, Dario, he’s been such a long-time close friend, and to be able to share a car with him and share a win together- it’s going to be a fun night."

Sunday, both drivers transitioned to dad mode as their children Settrington Cup.
