Kia has just redesigned its compact offering in the U.S., the Forte, but so far we've only seen the sedan version. The lineup in Europe is far more diverse, however, and Kia's compact range across the pond, comprising the Ceed and the Proceed (the names used to be styled as Cee'd and Procee'd), just added two enticing new variants. Take a look at the Proceed wagon and the Ceed GT hot hatchback.

The four-door Proceed wagon, which Kia refers to as a shooting brake, takes its styling from the attractive Proceed concept car from last year. The sleek lines have translated well to production. It'll be available with a range of turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines, with the top GT trim coming with the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 201 horsepower that we know from the Kia Soul Turbo and Hyundai Veloster.

That same engine resides in the Ceed GT, a hot hatch that comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission (a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is optional) and special tuning for its suspension that supposedly was overseen by Hyundai/Kia performance guru Albert Biermann. It also looks the part thanks to a body kit, attractive 18-inch wheels, and red brake calipers.

Although the wagon sadly seems unlikely for the American market, the Ceed GT might give an indication of the next Forte hatchback. The previous-generation Forte 5 offered an SX trim with the same 1.6-liter turbo four, and we think that a new Forte hatch could look at lot like this Europe-market hot hatch, given that the Forte sedan shares its basic styling and underpinnings with the Ceed. We'd certainly like to see at least one of these two cool Kias over here.
