IndyCar has two annual traditions worth circling on the calendar. The first is the ‘Month of May’ where practice, qualifying, and the Indy 500 itself is drawn out over a considerable span in Speedway, IN.

The other is ‘Canada Week’ as the series makes its lone trek to the Great White North for the Toronto street race. Everything related to native son James Hinchcliffe is turned up to 11.

The 'Mayor of Hinchtown'–who’s becoming the face of the series in 2018 with the highs of his national Honda commercials and the lows of failing to qualify for the Indy 500–is set to be mobbed at his home event like never before.

Coming off a win last weekend at the Iowa 300 oval race, Hinchcliffe is riding a crest of momentum that few IndyCar stars have experienced in recent years. Behind the beard and big smile, the 31-year-old also rates as one of IndyCar’s more intriguing characters.

From nearly dying in a crash at Indianapolis to harboring a broke IndyCar driver on his couch to a runner-up finish on Dancing with the Stars, IndyCar’s man of the moment is a story-telling machine. If you’re keen to know more about the Mayor, his two-part My Life and Racing Career interviews might be worth a listen.
