2014 Land Rover LR4

Up to 14 MPG city / 19 MPG hwy
$49,700 - $49,700

With a lineage dating back to the late 1980s, the LR4 is one of the defining vehicles of the luxury SUV segment, a boxy gas-guzzler with tons of power and substantial Lord Of The Manor trimmings to satisfy the status-lust of its nouveau-riche owners. Though it often loses in comparison on-road tests to direct competitors like the BMW X5 or the Audi Q7, the LR4 cuts an iconic swath through the off-road landscape, leaving other mid-sized SUV luxury models in the literal dust. The 2013 edition offers all kinds of interior goodies, like a "center cooling console," accent lighting, spacious seating for seven, and more premium leather than a VIP banquette at a Vegas nightclub. It also has a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system designed to be boomed obnoxiously down city streets. But all this is mere frippery to cover the vehicle's supreme off-road skills. The LR4 has a four-corner adjustable air suspension and can be tweaked to any number of different settings, including "mud and ruts" and "sand and dunes." And there's plenty of room for a bucket of Kristal in the back. See more... See Less
