Van Ginkel led Miami with 12 special teams tackles in 2022.
His defensive snaps and statistics decreased last season, but having his appendix removed just before the season was a contributing factor.
Van Ginkel, 6-foot-4, 242 pounds, can contribute as a pass-rusher in a rotation with Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb and newcomer Malik Reed.
Van Ginkel had 9.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 16 tackles for loss, 30 quarterback hits and 11 passes defended in the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
