During the final free practice for the Dutch Grand Prix, American Logan Sargeant crashed into the barriers in turn four, bringing out the red flag when his FW45 caught on fire Saturday morning.

Sargeant dipped a wheel into the grass and, in an attempt to save the slide, steered into the skid, exaggerating the slide and ending up crashed into the curved barrier at the entrance to a service road. The back of the car quickly caught on fire as the driver jumped out.

In the two hours between the end of practice and the start of qualifying, the Williams team worked to get Sargeant car drivable, but ultimately, no time was made for the No. 2.

The sophomore-year F1 driver is currently without a ride for the 2025 season, and there are speculations that he may end up on the outside looking in. On the first day of F1's summer break, the news broke that Carlos Sainz would be racing for Williams in 2025 in Sargeant's spot.

Practice three was a shortened rain-soaked affair that saw an unexpected trio top the charts in Alpine's Pierre Gasly, Haas' Kevin Magnussen, and Stake's Valtteri Bottas.
