Yahoo Autos Get Lost in the Group B Pikes Peak Action
What did European manufacturers do after the FIA decided to ban Group B on the grounds of it being somewhat deadly? They took their multi-million dollar racing developments to Colorado, to enter them in a race that knows no boundaries: the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.
Due to his commitments with Porsche, Walter Röhrl couldn't make it to the Eifel Rally Festival this year. But his Audi could. Along with all three of Volkswagen's twin-engined Pikes Peak prototypes: the famous 1987 version built by an F2 team, the 1986 car that now belongs to a man in Ingolstadt, and the Seat edition of the concept that you never, ever see anywhere, due it being evidence of an idea VW has abandoned fairly quickly in period.
Plus, BMWs sideways, Mercedeses sideways, Peugeots and Renaults spitting flames, and a Skoda stealing the show. This has been the Pikes Peak edition of Eifel 2018:
