Lucid Teases New Sub-$50,000 Mid-Size EV, Possibly Called 'Earth'
Lucid Motors has released the first teaser image of its upcoming mid-size EV.
A trademark filed with the USPTO suggests the new model will be called "Earth."
Previously, Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said the company's third model will start at "around $48K" and go into production in late 2026.
We already know that Lucid is developing a third model that will slot below the Air sedan and Gravity SUV, but we don't have a clue about what it will look like, at least until now. Today, the California-based automaker released a photo on its social media channel that teases the design of the mysterious upcoming EV.

Lucid's post on X, formerly known as Twitter, mostly confirms what we already knew, which is that the unnamed mid-size SUV will start under $50,000 and enter production sometime in late 2026. From the shrouded photo, we can see that the new Lucid has a curvy shape, four doors with shaved door handles, and a hood with idents similar to the Air and Gravity. The name "LUCID" is also prominently displayed on its nose.
Today's teaser comes after earlier this year it was discovered that Lucid filed a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the name "Earth" as well as "Earth Dream Edition." Those findings suggest that will be the name of the company's new model. Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson has also previously discussed details about the mid-sizer, including that it'll be a high-volume model built at the company's factory in Saudi Arabia, that it'll start at "around $48,000," and that it's slated to enter production in late 2026.
Car and Driver reached out to a Lucid spokesman for comment on the teaser image, but he said he wasn't able to share any information other than what has already been publicly announced.
