NASCAR Cup stars Ryan Blaney, William Byron, Austin Dillon, Joey Logano and Bubba Wallace are ready to take on Lightning McMcQueen.
Well, sort of.
On Monday, Mattel and NASCAR announced the release of a die-cast set of six cars that includes the latest version of Lightning McQueen—from the Pixar Cars movie franchise—along with five cars with a distinctive NASCAR flavor. The new characters on the scene include:
Ryan "Inside" Laney (Ryan Blaney, Driver of the No. 12 Ford for Team Penske)
GoGo Logano – (Joey Logano, Driver of the No. 22 Ford for Team Penske)
William Byrev – (William Byron, Driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports)
Carstin "Ace" Dillon (Austin Dillon, Driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing)
Bubba Wheelhouse (Bubba Wallace, Driver of the No. 23 Toyota for 23XI Racing)
Blaney and Wallace’s characters made their movie debuts in the Cars 3 film. The new cars can be used with the newest Mattel track, the Disney Pixar Cars/NASCAR Lane Change Playset, which is a 2.5-foot track modeled after the Los Angeles Raceway layout used in the first Cars movie. The metallic cars are 1:55 scale and use the NASCAR numbers and loosely mimic the color schemes of those used by the NASCAR drivers they represent.
“NASCAR’s continued collaboration with Disney and Pixar’s beloved Cars franchise provides incredible opportunities to engage the next generation of race fans and introduce them to real NASCAR stars in a fun, familiar way,” said Megan Malayter, managing director of licensing and consumer products at NASCAR. “It’s great to have an industry leader like Mattel bringing this line to life and knowing that fans will be treated to a quality play experience, which can be such a powerful contributor to future fandom.”
The cars are sold separately and only available a Walmart.
