2015 Mazda CX-5

Up to 24 MPG city / 30 MPG hwy
$21,545 - $29,220

Compact Crossovers are regulars amongst the best-selling vehicles lists at years end, so after far too long without a true competitor Mazda has entered the race with the CX-5. Fitted with the full range of SKYACTIV technologies the sharp looking five-seater is a showcase for the brand's new engineering approach. When the base Sport trim is equipped with Front Wheel Drive and a 6-Speed manual transmission, the 155 horsepower SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter is capable of a class leading 26/35 MPG. Using various techniques to maximize energy harnessed from regular gasoline in the engine, the SKYACTIV approach also optimizes the chassis design for maximum strength and minimal weight. The base model Sport carries the usual affair of power windows and locks, four-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo and air conditioning and is the only trim to offer the manual transmission. Taking a step up to the Touring model adds upgraded cloth upholstery, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a 5.8-inch color monitor with backup camera and a Blind Spot Monitoring System. Topping the range with the same SKYACTIV 2.0-liter, Grand Touring specification gains 19-inch wheels, leather upholstery, heated side mirrors, an 8-way power adjustable driver's seat, Bose stereo with 9 speakers and rain-sensing windshield wipers as standard. Styling - everyone looks your vehicle over when they see it! Hard getting in & out of car - have to lift leg too high
Price/ performance: great deal, great performance Does not handle well in inclement weather or high winds
Visibility - all the windows make it easy to see all round you Too light weight & one can easily lose control
