Lots of prominent car collectors are getting Ford GTs, and Zak Brown is one such collector. Brown is also, as of last November, the executive director of the McLaren Technology Group and its F1 team principal, making him a very interesting Ford GT customer. But according to his own personal website, he's on the list to get one regardless.

McLaren and Ford aren't true competitors - plus, McLaren for years used Ford-branded Cosworth engines in its F1 cars - but the Ford GT is a rival to cars like the McLaren 675LT and the 720S. When Ford announced the GT's horsepower and performance figures, it even made a point to compare its car to the 675LT.

There's nothing wrong with Brown owning a Ford GT, and it's likely that McLaren engineers will want to get their hands on it for benchmarking and analysis. It's more funny than anything.

Plus, Brown owns a 675LT Spider and Mika Hakinnen's 2001 McLaren grand prix car, so it's not as if he's avoiding the brand he helps run.
