  • McLarens in the supercar maker’s certified pre-owned program have gone through what the company calls a rigorous program.

  • The company says the cars in the program have gone through a complete inspection and are in prime condition.

  • The CPO cars also come with a one-year warranty.

Used-car pricing have been going nuts for months. We’ve done several stories with a bunch of explanations from the chip shortage to the rental car shortage, all looking at why used-car prices are skyrocketing—in some cases to higher than what the car cost when new. Sounds like a certified pre-owned program would be a great way to capitalize on the craze and give customers a little peace of mind to boot. Even a supercar maker like McLaren is getting in on the act.

For a McLaren to get the automaker’s certified stamp of approval, the company says it must be in “prime” condition and pass a comprehensive, multi-point exam. McLaren says the exam includes checking that each car has received all servicing and maintenance and has McLaren approved tires with at least 3 mm of tread left. It will be prepped so it is “immaculate” inside and out, the company says, and will only be fitted with genuine McLaren parts.
