Yahoo Autos Meet Thailand's Alfa Romeo Community
Tracking the route of certain classic Alfa Romeos around the world would be an interesting challenge. The vintage business is booming, but at the end of the day, it often comes down to finding a crew you can trust with a full restoration job. For example, the guys who work on my Autobianchi also have a Singaporean customer who literally ships one Alfa Romeo after the other to Budapest, Hungary to get the results he is looking for.
Keeping those few Alfas alive in Southeast Asia is never gonna be easy, but as it turns out, there's a whole community of Alfa heads in Thailand. At least that was Chong Soo Ong's experience, who moved to Thailand over a decade ago, only to fall in love with Alfa Romeos. From there, it wasn't long before he found himself in the seat of a 1975 2000 GTV.
What's more, his GTV turned out to be so pretty that it inspired his friends to hunt down something equally tempting from Alfa's colorful lineup. It's a similar story to why there are more and more Suzuki Cappuccionos in Sweden.
