2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO: F1-inspired power – why it’s turning heads
At its core, the Mercedes-AMG GT is a low-slung, curvy, two-door sports car introduced back in 2014 by the German automaker. It was Mercedes' second in-house sports car after the gull-wing SLS AMG. The second generation hit the scene in August, 2023 at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The new AMG GT, internally called the C192, is built on the same platform as the new SL and will only be offered in a coupe body style.
What powers the AMG GT?
Much like the first-generation AMG GT, various models correspond to different powertrains, with the lowest GT 43 housing the M139 2.0L hybrid turbocharged I4 putting out 416 hp, and the top-of-the-line GT 63 S E-Performance offering the M177 4.0L plug-in hybrid twin-turbo V8 with 805 hp. A 9-speed automatic AMG Speedshift MCT transmission backs all models. Unlike its predecessor, however, the C192 offers 4MATIC+ AWD and a 2+2 seating arrangement despite being a two-door coupe.
What does the Motorsport Collectors Edition add to the AMG GT 63 PRO?
Extraordinary cars need special models and Mercedes-Benz is not one to skip out on the occasion. Announced in collaboration with Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, the 1-of-200 GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collectors Edition is built upon the next-to-highest-tier GT 63 PRO, featuring the same 4.0L plug-in hybrid twin-turbo V8 as the GT 63 S but with 603 hp. That doesn’t stop it from achieving a 0-62 mph time of 3.2 seconds, just .4 seconds behind the top-tier GT 63 S E-Performance.
How much will the Motorsport Collectors Edition cost?
While no price was announced and all units are likely already spoken for, the “regular” GT 63 PRO starts at around $185,000, so one could easily assume a sticker price well over $200,000 for the Motorsports Collectors Edition.
Motorsport Collectors Edition limited to just 200 units worldwide
This rare GT 63 focuses solely on the exterior. Over the base Obsidian Black Metallic paint inspired by the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 car lays a beautiful blanket of hand-painted stars akin to what you would see on a Rolls-Royce Starlight headliner. Various accent pieces around the car, including the front splitter, sill panels, and rear diffuser, are finished in the distinct cyan color of PETRONAS, the Malaysian oil and gas company that has been the Title and Technical Partner to the Mercedes-AMG Formula One Team since 2010.
The outer rims of the black 21-inch AMG forged split-spoke wheels have the same PETRONAS accents and are wrapped in beefy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires sized at 295/30 ZR 21 in the front and 305/30 ZR 21 in the rear. Stopping power is provided by the standard 16.5-inch carbon ceramic discs with six-piston fixed calipers up front and single-piston floating calipers out back.
Rounding out the exterior are the AMG Aerodynamics Package, AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, and AMG Extended Night Package. The first two provide the carbon fiber-finished splitter, diffuser, side sills, and wing while the latter darkens the grill, model badge, and Mercedes star at the rear.
But wait, there’s even more inside
The party continues once you open the door, with PETRONAS-colored stitching adorning the black Nappa leather & microfiber upholstery, door panels, instrument panel, center console, and steering wheel. The door sills also light up in the same cyan, in case onlookers haven’t quite figured out how special the AMG GT is yet. Lastly, a special indoor car cover is included in the purchase to protect your ride when you’re not showing it off.
Final thoughts
For the Mercedes-AMG F1 enthusiast, this special edition AMG GT 63 PRO is likely a godsend, allowing them to rep their favorite team wherever there is pavement. Even for those who aren’t into F1, the stars and the accents make this one of the most epic special editions on the market right now, and that’s something worth taking a beat to appreciate.
