As the flagship SUV in Mercedes' line-up, the new GL has to be a luxurious people mover and an adventurous off-roader. With clever Airmatic suspension and 4Matic AWD the 7-passenger 'S-Class among off-road vehicles' seems to manage just that. Available with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with 455 lb-ft of torque, still capable of 26 highway MPG, or two versions of a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 making 362 horsepower in the GL450 and 429 horsepower in the GL550, the GL offers a wide range of power and efficiency. Mated to any of the three engines is Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel drive, always engaged and always redirecting power to each of the four wheels in for maximum traction and stability. For even stronger road-holding dynamics the optional Active Curve System adjusts the stiffness of electro-hydraulic stabilizer bars in the front and rear axels to manage body lean through turns. With a comfortable ride on and off-road and standard safety features and conveniences like Collision Prevention Assist, power folding 50/50-split 3rd-row seats and a power liftgate, the GL has the SUV bases covered. With optional equipment like Burl Walnut wood trim, Surround View Camera System and Rear Seat Entertainment systems, the GL has luxury covered. See more... See Less
