F1 Sprint was introduced into Formula 1 in 2021, with a mini-race taking place on Saturday, ahead of Sunday’s main Grand Prix.
Six venues will again host the Saturday Sprint races in 2025.
Formula 1 has not yet determined whether any changes will be made to the format of Sprint weekends for 2025.
Formula 1 has confirmed the location of its six Sprint events in 2025, with Miami and Austin once more holding the format.
F1 Sprint was introduced into Formula 1 in 2021, with a mini-race taking place on Saturday, ahead of Sunday’s main Grand Prix. It initially featured at three rounds before being expanded to six in 2023, with Austin receiving the format for the first time.
Miami held F1 Sprint for the first time in 2024 while Austin will again welcome F1 Sprint later this season at the United States Grand Prix.
On Thursday, Formula 1 announced its six Sprint events for 2025, with Miami and Austin both included. China, Brazil and Qatar have been retained, with São Paulo the only location to have held F1 Sprint each year since its inception in 2021.
The only change for 2025 will see the format used in Belgium instead of Austria. Belgium hosted F1 Sprint in 2023 but its 2024 event—due to be held later this month—will use a standard Grand Prix weekend format.
Austria has welcomed F1 Sprint across 2022, 2023 and 2024, but will revert to a standard weekend format for 2025.
“The Sprint has been a great success for Formula 1, bringing all our fans more action and racing on the track,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. “We are seeing the proof of this in our audience data, fan attendance on Fridays and from the promoters and partners.
“As we prepare to celebrate our 75th anniversary in 2025 we will always honor our incredible history, but we must always be looking ahead, innovating, and improving to deliver the best for our growing and diverse fanbase.
“The Sprint is a great example of bringing new elements to our sport in a way that is respectful of the championship, and I want to thank the six venues that will host the Sprint in 2025 and look forward to those incredible events throughout the season.”
Formula 1 has not yet determined whether any changes will be made to the format of Sprint weekends for 2025.
Tweaks were made prior to 2024, with Sprint Qualifying shifted to Friday evening, and the Sprint race now opening Saturday’s track activity, allowing the qualifying session for Sunday’s grand prix to be reinstalled in its usual slot on Saturday afternoon.
