Motorcycle Rider Does A Dumb Thing After Watching Bridge Collapse

A bridge collapse is something we hope nobody reading this article ever experiences firsthand. However, it’s important to learn from the dumb mistake made by a guy on a motorcycle who just barely missed being a victim of one in Vietnam. His response to the tragic accident could’ve easily made him a casualty instead of a survivor, so don’t mimic what he did.
Learn how police in Ohio are using air units to bust illegal dirt bikes and ATVs.
Dashcam footage of the bridge collapse shared by the Associated Press shows the moment the bridge in the Phu Tho Province just gives way, tragically killing 64 people. The camera car shows a dump truck driving directly in front of the motorcycle went over the edge as the bridge snapped in pieces, plunging into the water below.
Most people’s response to that situation would be fear and we think that’s actually the correct reaction. Fear gets a bad rap too often in our society, but it can motivate you to get away from something dangerous.
The rider doesn’t feel fear when he really should. While the people in the camera car talk excitedly while reversing to get the hell off the portion of the bridge which is still standing, the motorcyclist rides a little closer to the edge, dismounts, and walks all the way to where the bridge snapped.
We’re not structural engineers, but it seems to us if most of the bridge has collapsed, the sensible thing to do would be to get off the portion that’s still standing in case whatever made the rest of the bridge fall would affect that area as well.
But the guy seems to not think about that even a little. Instead, he does the exact opposite of what the camera car people do. Thankfully he doesn’t fall and that part of the bridge didn’t collapse, but is it smart to gamble your life on that not happening, all things considered?
We recommend getting off a bridge where part of it collapsed as soon as possible. But do as you will if you ever find yourself in this kind of situation.
