The midsized Sonata is one of the best less-costly family sedans. It has a firm yet comfortable ride and handles quite nimbly. The base four-cylinder engine and smooth, responsive six-speed automatic returned an impressive 27 mpg overall, but road noise is evident. The interior is nicely finished at all trim levels, but while rear-seat room and visibility are decent, rear-seat access is compromised due to the low roof line.

Get the best price on your next new car

The key to getting the lowest price on a car is to know how much negotiating room you have. That means knowing all of the current sales incentives, including behind-the-scenes dealer perks. That information is what makes the CR Bottom Line Price the best place to begin your new-car negotiations. It's calculated by subtracting any rebates, dealer incentives, or holdback amounts from the dealer-invoice price. That gives you a good idea of how much negotiating room you have below the car's sticker price. Armed with those figures, you can often save thousands of dollars when buying a new car. Get the CR Bottom Line Price on your next new car through Consumer Reports' New Car Price Reports.
