Cadillac CT6 Gets 64-Percent Aluminum Structure That Saves 198 Pounds

With just weeks left until the Cadillac CT6’s unveiling ahead of the 2015 New York Auto Show, we don’t have long to wait to find out all of the details on the new flagship American luxury sedan. But as you’d expect, Cadillac is prepping us with some of the nitty gritty details beforehand.

Today, we learn that the structure of the CT6 will use 13 different materials to save 198 pounds versus a mostly-steel body in white.

How much of those other materials are used? Sixty-four percent of the CT6’s structure is aluminum. All of the body panels are aluminum; a large portion of the body structure itself is too. Much of the rest of the materials are a variety of high-strength steels.
