Chevy’s already promised us a high-performance Corvette Z06 for Detroit, but now we can get even more excited with the C7.R expected to debut in the Motor City. If you’re unaware, the C7.R is the Corvette’s race-brad counterpart, which will be taking to the track at the Rolex 24 At Daytona next year.
But how potent is this Stingray going to be? From early spy shots, we can tell that the heavily modified racer comes with a lower center of gravity, some enticing aerodynamic adjustments, and a rear wing that goes on for days.
Early reports also tell us that this new, more advanced racer will get a boost of 40% in rigidity over the previous C6.R. It’s also going to share a base with the Z06 that making its debut alongside it. Chevrolet even updated the signature Jake logo, the Corvette’s (unofficial) racing mascot.
You can catch the C7.R when it makes its debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next month.
