Nissan Xterra Fleeing Police Ends Up Underwater

A Nissan Xterra fleeing a McSherrystown Borough Police officer trying to perform a traffic stop ended up going for a swim in a water-filled quarry. The driver and his pregnant girlfriend were subsequently rescued from the waters by the very officer they were fleeing only moments before.

Stolen cars are being used to fund terrorism.

According to a public statement made by McSherrystown Borough Police Department, the driver of the Xterra committed “multiple traffic offenses” before refusing to pull over for an officer. The guy then made the stupid decision to run.

We’re not advocating that anyone flee from police. But please, if you do, don’t use an Xterra for the job. It’s just not even close to the right kind of vehicle.

The guy must’ve been going at a good clip when he launched the Nissan SUV off the road and into the water-filled quarry, landing about 90 feet from the shoreline. That water was deep enough to completely swallow the Xterra.

And that’s why the officer waded into the waters, saving the “adult” male driver and his pregnant 17-year-old girlfriend. Thankfully, neither one of theme was hurt, and the officer was also okay. But we wonder how stupid the pair felt after the cop they treated so poorly saved their lives.

Considering the maturity level on display in this incident, we wouldn’t be holding our breath for any gratitude expressed to the officer. Now the driver is facing a felony fleeing charge, plus several other criminal and traffic charges.

We guess some people think running from police looks cool or is a good way to solve their problems. But as we can see in this case, fleeing oftentimes creates more issues, including putting yours and other’s lives at risk. It’s best to just pull over and take whatever ticket is coming, saving the fight for inside a courtroom.
