Stix keeps Ojai mayor's seat
In Ojai's mayoral race, incumbent Betsy Stix successfully held onto the seat after initially lagging behind challenger Anson Williams, final results certified on Wednesday show.
Stix finished with 1,823 votes, or 50.58% of the total. Williams had 1,781, 49.42%.
The final gap between the two candidates was 42 votes, or just over 1%. In all, 3,604 ballots were counted in the citywide contest, according to the county elections division.
Williams had initially been the frontrunner as results were released starting on Nov. 8. As updates continued, Stix moved ahead on Nov. 22 and held the lead ever since.
Stix has served in the post since 2020. Williams is a director and producer widely known for his role as Potsie in "Happy Days," the 1970s and '80s TV sitcom.
Ojai's mayor serves a two-year term.
"I am humbled that the majority of Ojai voters want me to continue serving as mayor," Stix said in an email after results were final. "I look forward to representing everyone who lives in Ojai and bringing our town together by encouraging respect, clear communication, transparency, kindness and equity."
Separately, Ojai voters chose who will fill three of four City Council seats. They also weighed in on two ballot measures that would affect future city elections.
