One-off supercars are always worth our attention. We get even more intrigued if they're for sale. This Viper, tuned McLaren and equipped with a carbon fiber body, is one of the coolest things we've seen pop up on the car market in a long while. You should buy it.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

Originally built by American Specialty Cars for the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, this Viper ASC Diamondback is a one of a kind. The naturally aspirated 8.0-liter V10 engine is tuned by McLaren Performance Technologies, featuring individual trumpeted air intakes, each with their own port throttle. The design is meant as a call-back to McLaren's intake design on its Can-Am cars of the 1960s. The engine now puts out 615 horsepower, up from the standard car's 510.

The roof, rear hatch, bumpers, and rocker panels have been replaced with carbon fiber pieces. The hood is also carbon fiber, and features a cutout above the engine to show off those sweet intakes. There's also a distinct orange line traced around the hood opening to signal McLaren's influence. Thanks to all this lightweight material and upped power, this Viper can get from 0-60 in just 3.5 seconds.

The car is for sale by a dealership called American Supercars in Fresno, California, with an asking price of $295,000. Interestingly, this is the second time the car has popped up for sale, the first being back in 2009 for the exact same price. It's accumulated just 74 miles on the odometer in its 12 years since the Detroit Show, which doesn't seem like very much. And considering you can get a normal 2006 Viper for about the fifth of the cash, it's hard to justify the asking price. Still, for a one-of-one McLaren-tuned V10, it is tempting.
