Happy <cue horror music> Friday the 13th! Want to turn the unluckiest day of the year into the most fortuitous? Well, today happens to be your <cue upbeat pop music> lucky day!
According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute, Friday the 13th is the most feared day and date in history, resulting in stress and anxiety for millions in the United States. But, as multiple studies have shown, spending time with a companion animal reduces stress and even lowers blood pressure. In other words, adopting a pet like Oliver or Winnie from the Burlington County Animal Shelter will make every day your lucky day!
Pets of the Week: Out of this galaxy — The Force is strong with Cake and Moo
Winnie is an adorable calico girl who would love to sit on the couch with you and watch horror movies. Truthfully, she’s more of a rom-com fan, but Winnie is easy-going enough to let you always pick the movie.
However, she can’t promise that she’ll be quiet for the whole flick. Winnie is a bit of a chatterbox who loves to regale her shelter pals with the details of her day. She will also let you know when she wants some pets and attention - which is most of the time! Five-year-old Winnie enjoys playing with her new toys and indulging in treats, but she is really looking forward to having a family to love.
Submit an adoption application online through the Burlington County Animal Shelter’s Petango page (petango.com, enter the shelter’s zip code of 08060, then go to the shelter page and click on Winnie's picture), then call the shelter at 609-265-5073 (ext. 4) to set up a meeting.
Oliver is a big, friendly guy who promises to keep you safe while watching Friday the 13th. After all, even Jason couldn’t resist the charms of this sweet, snuggly boy. Oliver arrived at the shelter after his owner had to move, and was noted to be a very good boy.
Six-year-old Oliver is crate trained and house trained, and knows several commands. He is pretty much move-in-ready! Oliver loves hanging out with his people, especially if it means a ride in the car.
Oliver is a little overweight, but is looking forward to his ‘summer shapeup plan,’ which involves lots of walks with his new family. But only after some pets and scratches, of course, as you can see from Oliver’s YouTube video (Search FriendsofBCAS on YouTube).
