This remains among the roomiest cars for the money and is the last model on the market to offer an available front-row bench seat for six-passenger seating. MSRP: $73,200-$155,000. Average Discount: 13.2 percent. With all the attention being lavished on the newest model in this British luxury automaker’s showroom, the sleek F-Type roadster, Jaguar dealers are cutting their margins on their largest car, the full-size XJ sedan.

Midsize Car: Nissan Maxima
MSRP: $31,000-$33,240. Average Discount: 11.6 percent. Nissan won’t be redesigning its flagship sedan until 2015, so the 2013 vintage will remain fresh for at least another year, made more attractive by a deep dealer discount.

Small SUV: Mitsubishi Outlander
MSRP: $22,695-$28,595. Average Discount: 11.6 percent. This amenable compact crossover SUV was redesigned and released as an early 2014 model. In the meantime, Mitsubishi dealers are aggressively discounting the previous generation to clear their stocks, which according to TrueCar.com currently sits at a 245-days’ supply.

This full-size truck-based SUV isn’t in particularly high demand, and with the 2014 version not expected to change much, choosing an existing 2013 model can prove to be a good deal for those with a purposeful need to tow a large boat or trailer to and from the lake or campsite.

Minivan: Honda Odyssey
MSRP: $28,675-$44,025. Average Discount: 11.4 percent. We’d expect the Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country might take top honors in this regard, but upon further review the Odyssey affords a higher markup, which gives dealers more latitude to cut prices.

Midsize SUV: Nissan Murano
MSRP: $28,440-$39,480. Average Discount: 10.8 percent. The Murano has been around in its present form since the 2009 model year without a major refresh, ensuring Nissan dealers will have to whittle down their margins to help compete with a spate of newer five-passenger crossovers.

The compact car segment is both one of the most popular and most competitive segments in the industry; Ford dealers are slashing their prices to help the otherwise amenable Focus hold its own among the likes of stalwart sellers like the Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla.
