Pininfarina's New Battista Targa Is GloriousAutomobili Pininfarina

Having enough money and influence to commission your own one-off hypercar is not a position many enthusiasts find themselves in. Luckily for us mere mortals, those that do tend to do pretty cool stuff with that immense amount of scratch — and the companies are often all to happy to show off what they've done. Take the all-new Pininfarina Battista Targamerica, which just arrived at Monterey Car Week to highlight one specific buyer’s vision.

According to Automobili Pininfarina, the Battista Targamerica was initially commissioned during last year’s Monterey Car Week festivities. The unnamed collector behind the project was already a Battista customer, bringing a list of custom touches to enhance the machine to the team at Cambiano. The results are rather stunning, but that’s not a huge surprise when you get the “other” Pininfarina (the design house) to handle styling updates.

As the name suggests, the Targamerica is an open-top car, which required a rework of the Battista’s structure. The center roof section has been removed, with a targa bar installed in place to add back some support. This adjustment meant the doors had to go frameless, giving a much sportier look. The window has also been ditched for a solid panel, not unlike what we see with the Ferrari 812 Competizione.

Speaking of Ferrari, many of the details throughout this car are inspired by one of the Prancing Horse’s most iconic models: the one-off 1986 Testarossa Spider commissioned for Gianni Agnelli after 20 years of service as the chairman of Fiat. Like that car, the Battista Targamerica features an elegant silver paint job with blue accents to match. There’s even a set of Ferrari-esque five-spoke wheels to complement the look. Keen-eyed fans will recognize the livery, but it's not an over-the-top tribute.

Inside the Targamerica, you’ll find a bespoke tan leather interior with contrasting black elements, as specified by the owner. The headrests are also unique, complete with the brand’s logo embossed into the leather. Details throughout the interior were hand-selected by the owner, right on down to the door sills.

The owner had other specific requests, including a three-cigar humidor and holder between the front seats. This smoking setup is even tied to the car’s interior lighting system, changing colors with each of the various drive modes. (No word on what the ashtray situation looks like.)

The Targamerica is based on the same Rimac-sourced platform as the standard Battista, meaning it's one serious performance car. The quad-motor EV makes 1,877 hp and 1,726 lb-ft, which the automaker says allows for 0-62 mph sprints in less than two seconds and a top speed of over 186 mph. Of course, you might expect that sort of performance when you’re shopping for a multi-million dollar ride. Automobili Pininfarina hasn’t specified how much this one-off actually cost, but we bet it's significantly more than the $2.2 million base price of the hardtop.
