Porsche 911 GT2 RS Sets Lap Record at Second-Longest Racetrack on Earth

If you haven't already heard, Porsche broke a Nurburgring lap record with its new 911 GT2 RS in 2017, setting a time of 6:47.30 around the Nordschleife course-the longest permanent race track on earth. (The 6:44.97 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ now owns the 'Ring record.) Now, the car has broken the lap record at the second-longest track.

Porsche brought a GT2 RS to the newly opened Bend Motorsport Park, a 4.83-mile, 35-corner track in Southern Australia. At the hands of Australian V8 Supercars driver Warren Luff, the car set a blistering 3:24.08 around the track's full-course configuration. Since the track is new, the time is meant more as a benchmark than an outright record, but it sets the bar extremely high for any potential challenger.

Considering the GT2's monstrous capabilities, we have a feeling that record is going to stand for more than a little while. Porsche put together a video documenting the record run, which you can watch below.
