Porsche Cayenne Winds Up Stuck in Tree in Florida
First responders are used to rescuing cats from trees, but Porsches? Not so much. But that's the situation emergency workers in Florida found themselves in this week, when a woman launched her Porsche Cayenne Coupe through the third-floor wall of a parking garage.
Rescue workers used ropes to safely extract the woman, and she was taken to a nearby hospital; she was in stable condition without major injuries, NBC 6 News South Florida reported.
The incident occurred on Monday, September 23, on the third floor of a garage at 1567 San Remo Avenue in Coral Gables, Florida. According to officials, the woman apparently accidentally pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. That mistake sent the expensive Porsche through a concrete wall. Thankfully for the driver, the SUV then became wedged in a tree on the other side, preventing the Porsche from plunging to the ground below — and likely saving the woman from greater injury.
“Pretty sure that she was pretty shaken up, but looking at it from outside, she was fairly calm considering how dramatic this incident was,” Coral Gables Fire Rescue Chief Xavier Jones said.
Video of the rescue was posted on the NBC 6 News South Florida X (formally Twitter) page shows just what a precarious position the woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was in.

A crane was brought in to remove the Porsche, and to limit any further damage to the parking garage. Structural engineers are being brought in to evaluate the garage before it can be used again.
The Porsche Cayenne Coupe starts at $91,795, but can easily cross the $100K mark with just a couple options. It's not clear which trim version was involved in the incident, but even the base model has a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that produces 368 pound-feet of torque — which, we'd imagine, is enough power to push a 4,700-pound SUV through a concrete wall.
