Porsche announced on Thursday that in collaboration with Puma, it will be releasing an exclusive series of limited-edition sneakers as a tribute to the first 911 Turbo. Two designs will be on sale globally, and there will also be ten market-specific designs for Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, the U.K., Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, the U.S., and Canada.

The Porsche 911 Turbo was presented to the world for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in October 1974. Porsche has already announced the 911 Turbo 50 Years car that will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the model. Naturally, a Porsche Design watch is also part of the celebration. But, yes, there's a special pair of sneakers, too.

The “Turbo No. 1” kicks are finished in Metallic Silver on the outside and red with a blue tartan pattern on the inside. This scheme is based on the interior of the very first 911 Turbo model which was presented to Louise Piëch by her brother Dr. Ferry Porsche, the designer of the 911. The “Turbo 930” sneaker in Oak Green Metallic is inspired by the 1976 911 Turbo of Dr. Ferry Porsche himself. The inner lining of this sneaker has a green tartan pattern.

All sneakers have vintage turbo lettering and a Porsche logo on the outside. The heel of the shoe is designed to mimic the famous “whale tail” rear spoiler. The front of the laces includes a removable plaque with 50th-anniversary lettering.

All sneakers in the collection are based on the Puma “Road Rider” design. They also all come with an additional set of black laces. The ten market-exclusive editions are available in one of the thirty available exterior colors from the original Porsche color charts from 1975 to 1977. The U.S. market shoe is a medium brown color, perhaps Bitter Chocolate?

The “Turbo No. 1” and “Turbo 930” sneakers will be available starting on August 29 at 9:11 am (CEST) at shop.porsche.com and in the Porsche Museum Shop in Stuttgart, Germany. The suggested retail price is 169 EUR or about $190. A reasonable enough price but with only 911 pairs available for each style, is Porsche going to make us fight over sneaker allocations now?
