Formula 1 world champion Red Bull Racing officials have confirmed that team principal Christian Horner is under investigation by the team for inappropriate conduct, several media outlets in Europe are reporting today.

Horner, 50, is the longest-serving team principal on the current F1 grid, having taking charge at Red Bull when the team entered Formula 1 in 2005. He is also listed as the team chief executive officer. The team has won six F1 Constructors' Championships and seven F1 Drivers' Championships with Horner at the helm.

The exact nature of the allegations was not released. The allegations were first made public by the Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

"After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an investigation," Red Bull said in a statement today that was published by Sky Sports. "The process, which is already under way, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister.

"The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible."

Horner has denied any wrongdoing.

The team is scheduled to launch its 2024 car on Feb. 15. The F1 season begins with a race in Bahrain on March 2. Teams are scheduled for a three-day preseason test at Bahrain on Feb. 21-23.
