Skateboarder Steals C1 Corvette

It’s not often we see car thieves riding skateboards, especially when they’re targeting a C1 Corvette worth six digits. But that’s what police say happened in West Los Angeles back on September 4 as they’re now asking the public for help identifying the thief.
Watch police chase down an armed carjacker.
The 1958 Chevy Corvette was being kept in an underground parking garage for a building on the 12200 block of West Olympic Boulevard when the suspect rolled up on his skateboard. Unfortunately, the owner left the classic American sports car unlocked, so the suspect didn’t even have to break in.
He also started the ‘Vette quickly, making us question if the keys were left under the sun visor or if the suspect is just extra practiced at hot wiring cars. Either way, he was in and out of the parking garage in a hurry, like he knew exactly what he was there to do.
Fortunately, surveillance cameras captured the theft and police have shared an image of the suspect and the ’58 Corvette. The thief didn’t bother to cover up his head or face, so Los Angeles detectives are hopeful he will be identified by a member of the public.
We find this case strange on several levels. First off, it seems apparent the thief knew exactly what car he was taking. And that vehicle was left unlocked. Even if the keys weren’t in it, the fact the guy could get it started rapidly meant there was no kill switch or other aftermarket device to prevent theft.
And there’s zero mention of a GPS tracker on a classic car worth a considerable sum left in a parking garage accessible to the public.
Finally, who rolls up on their skateboard to steal a car? That’s just weird.
