Southern Miss football receives commitment from Georgia tight end Exavious Reed

HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss football landed a commitment from Georgia in tight end Exavious Reed on Wednesday afternoon.

Reed becomes the 13th commitment in the 2023 cycle for Will Hall and his staff, and will be the first tight end to join the fold.

An unranked prospect according to 247Sports, Reed also held scholarship offers from Georgia State, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, Western Kentucky and Florida Atlantic.

247Sports lists Reed at 6-foot-3½ and categorizes him as a wide receiver. However, Southern Miss labeled him as a tight end, where he lines up most frequently on his junior season film.

Reed helped Callaway to a 10-3 overall record in 2021, making an appearance in the Georgia AA state semifinals.

Reed is the first July commitment for the Golden Eagles after their busy June, which saw Hall land verbal pledges from nine prospects.
