The starting grid for the 61st Rolex 24 at Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH — Qualifying for this weekend’s 61st Rolex 24 at Daytona concluded on Sunday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway with Tom Blomqvist claiming the pole position in the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura prototype.

The entry is one of nine in the new Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, which all sit atop the starting grid, as expected. The field is broken up into five classes for the race, which is slated to begin at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and finish at 1:40 p.m. on Sunday.

A PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca claimed the top spot in the LMP2 class and will start 10th overall. Among LMP3 entries, the No. 33 Sean Creech Motorsport, Ligier JS P320 was best and will start 20th.

Finally, 33 of the 61 cars are competing in the GTD and GTD Pro classes with the No. 57 Winward Racing, Mercedes AMG GT3 claiming the top spot among those entries and lined up to start 29th overall. The GTD Class has a mix of professional and amateur drivers, while GTD Pro employs professional (and/or factory) driver rosters.
