Fun fact: There are thought to be only three C7-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 convertibles registered across the entire nation of Canada, according to the country's own CTV News. Less fun fact: As of Wednesday, that number is down to two and a half, after a ZR1 that had been reported stolen last month mysteriously turned up on a dirt road more than 100 miles from where it hailed, carved up for parts like the carcass of a Thanksgiving turkey.

According to CTV, the shell of the Sebring Orange ZR1 was found on the morning of September 25th on a dirt road in New Lowell, Ontario. Just about everything that could have been stripped from the car had been removed, from the engine to the suspension to the wheels to the interior. Even the doors had been yanked away.

The car, according to local authorities, is the same one reported stolen from Grimsby, Ontario, more than a month earlier. Grimsby lies 118 miles by car to the south of New Lowell, on the far side of Toronto.

While a broken Corvette might be a rare sight to find on the side of the road, it has some precedent in the area. Area residents told CTV that they'll occasionally will find old furniture left behind on this stretch of road, but that recently, it's become a dumping ground for vehicles. One local stated the Corvette was the third vehicle left here in recent memory.

The C7-generation ZR1 became an instant collectible from the day it was released, and as with other seventh-generation 'Vettes, values remain strong to this day. A search of AutoTrader as of this story's publication reveals prices of used Corvette ZR1 convertibles ranging between $145,000 and $210,000.

The Niagara Regional Police told CTV it's working with the Ontario Provincial Police to figure out who is responsible for stealing and stripping the car, and are asking that anyone with information about this car to come forward — including anyone who may have seen the car in the past month. In other words, if you've seen an orange drop-top ZR1 in Canada since August 15... it's probably worth letting the cops know.
