Stolen Ferrari 488 Police Chase Footage Leaks

For many teens, the fantasy of stealing a high-powered Ferrari and leading police on a chase down public roads will remain just that, a fantasy. But for a 19-year-old, he not only did that but was able to drive the Ferrari 488 he stole in Rhode Island all the way to northeast Florida before getting caught. Now dashcam footage of part of that pursuit has been leaded.
Georgia trooper almost PITs a suspect into oncoming traffic.
Shared by Rhode Island news station WPRI, the chase involved a member of Rhode Island State Police, which was the camera car in the footage. The cop is chasing the Ferrari down the shoulder of a stretch of highway, traffic moving slowly in the lanes of travel.
Smartly, the suspect doesn’t try veering off the road and onto the mushy grass shoulder, sticking instead to paved sections only. Had he done that the Ferrari would’ve either become helplessly stuck or spun out, possibly crashing. Either way, that likely wouldn’t been the end of the chase.
What’s even more interesting is the chase happened in the rain. It’s no downpouring, but the kid maintains control of the 488 on the wet road. Once he reaches the end of the traffic backup, which was caused by a vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway, he takes off and easily loses his pursuer.
Dashcam footage out of Flagler County, Florida that we’ve shared shows deputies try keeping up with the exotic Italian sports car. One of the pursuing units was a Ford Mustang, but it was seriously outgunned.
Authorities canvassed the area and spotted the Ferrari behind a house, covered by a tarp, realizing the suspect must be inside. They were able to arrest him without incident or another high-speed, embarrassing chase.
