If you’re going to steal a vehicle and drive it around town after, you probably don’t want something as distinct as this Ram 3500. After all, it’s been converted into a flatbed, which we know those are around but it’s uncommon enough that an Arkansas trooper recognizes it.

People in a Michigan city are mad about a new distracted driving initiative.

The suspect driver must have realized they were made because once the trooper turns around in the road, the guy just punches it. He blasts through intersections and pushes the giant work horse hard, but it’s not enough to ditch the trooper.

Perhaps realizing straight speed isn’t in his favor, the Ram driver starts off-roading to get away. At first this involves cutting cross medians and other green areas around the roads and freeway. But eventually he ends up cutting over to farmland.

That’s when the suspect plows through a corn field, cutting a path that looks like one of those mazes people like to pay to go into during the fall. It makes following the truck easy, but the Ram is in its element and the cruiser isn’t as much.

After a short jaunt on the freeway, the Ram takes another dirt road. Again, this driver isn’t bright because the dust cloud he leaves behind makes tracking him easy. He must think it’s acting like a smokescreen or something, but the fact is he’s not losing the trooper.

When an ASP trooper locks on like this, it’s only a matter of time before the suspect makes a mistake and it’s all over. Sometimes they wreck out. Other times they slow down enough that a sudden PIT makes them wreck out. One way or another Arkansas troopers get their man.

This bouncy ride comes to a sudden end when the truck launches off the end of a dirt road and onto the bank of the Arkansas River. The two passengers were caught running away and the driver was found trying to swim for it in the river, something we’ve never seen work out.
