Super Speeders Being Targeted By Connecticut State Police

Connecticut State Police are tired of dealing with super speeders, so they’re targeting those who go well past the posted limit. That means anyone who lives in or travels through the state needs to cool off their led foot and keep that accelerator from touching the floorboard constantly. Otherwise, you might be facing some not-so-fun consequences.

Police in Oklahoma show off their new Grappler Bumpers.

There’s an elite unit of troopers within CSP which are working to target super speeders. One of the units shown in the WTNH report on this initiative was unmarked, making it harder for speed violators to spot.

One trooper who was interviewed by WTNH said he thinks people who have a performance machine like a Dodge Hellcat want to see what it can do. Instead of going to a track, they hit the highway where there are no intersections with traffic lights, then push their car toward its limit.

He says the other factor is that newer cars have more power and can go faster. That, combined with onboard technologies, just adds fuel to the fire, in his opinion. We think some people aren’t responsible, so we’re not quite so much onboard with blaming cars. After all, they’re just tools, not the cause of people doing stupid things.

The problem is there are other people on these public highways. All it takes at higher speeds is one wrong move and you can wreck out big time, even something as mundane as an imperfection in the road, mangling your own ride and other vehicles. The resulting consequences can be severe, so the legal consequences of tempting that kind of fate are also weightier than a regular speeding violation.

But there’s an open debate about just how deadly speed is. Some argue it kills, others say it’s reckless driving that causes fatalities. Obviously, CSP is of the opinion speeding alone is dangerous, so troopers are targeting violators. You’ve been warned.
