Tractor Trailer Filled with $1.5 Million in Porsche Race Cars Stolen
Thieves targeted a Porsche race shop in South Florida and made off with a tractor trailer that contained four race cars, parts and gear. The tractor has since been recovered but the trailer and the cars are still missing, per a local news report.
The theft took place around 3 am on Sunday morning. The tractor trailer and its contents were stolen from the property of Rennsport-One, located in Pompano Beach, Florida. Justin Bellinzoni, the owner of the facility, htold local news that surveillance video shows two people driving into the parking lot early on Sunday morning. Roughly 20 minutes later, someone drove the tractor trailer containing the Porsches off the lot.
The specific Porsche models taken was not disclosed, however, based on images shown in the news report they appear to be the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport models that Rennsport-One runs in GT4-spec SRO and IMSA competition. If that is indeed the case, those can easily be worth $200,000 or more a piece. Combined with the spare parts and gear that was also in the trailer and it is easy to believe the claim that the total value is roughly $1.5 million.
The tractor was found a few miles away, but the trailer and its expensive cargo remain missing. Bellinzoni hired a private investigator who took to the sky to search by plane. The trailer was equipped with a GPS tracker but so far, they have had no luck in finding the stolen goods.
A post on the Rennsport-One Instagram page promises a large cash reward for any tips that lead to the recovery of the trailer and its contents. The Broward Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation and is asking that anyone with information regarding this crime contact Broward Crime Stoppers at browardcrimestoppers.org or call 954-493-TIPS. Hopefully the trailer and the contents are recovered soon and the Porsche race cars are back on the track where they belong.
