Trans Sport Is the Pontiac of Minivans
General Motors first unleashed the radical-looking U-Body minivans—the Chevrolet Lumina APV, Pontiac Trans Sport, and Oldsmobile Silhouette—on the world as 1990 models. With Fiero-style plastic body panels and a dash top deep enough to fit an extra-large pizza box, each of the "Dustbuster"vans had its own marketing image.
For the Trans Sport, that image was all about Pontiac Excitement, and here's a magazine advertisement demonstrating just that quality.
The "Pontiac of Minivans" line must have sounded so good that, five years later, GM managed to get the Olds Silhouette labeled as the "Cadillac of Minivans" in the 1995 film, Get Shorty.
