Tusky Valley girls finish third at the Division II regional

Tusky Valley's Hannah Wyler is the Queen of Chillicothe.

Wyler won the girls 800, 1600 and 3200 and was part of the third place 4x400 relay as the Trojans finished third as team in the Division II regional track and field meet that concluded at Chillicothe Unioto Saturday.

Wyler won the 800 in 2:18.03, 1600 in 4:56.37 and 3200 in 11.24.91. She anchored the third place 4x400 relay along with Ella McElwee, Cara Pipitone and Leah Bourquin that finished in 4:08.40.

The top four finishers in each event automatically qualified for the state meet to be held at the Jesse Owens Memorial Track on the campus of Ohio State University next Friday and Saturday.

Tusky Valley was third as team with 55 points. Only Steubenville (66) and Morgan (63) were ahead of the Trojans.

Tusky Valley's Brooke Stookey won the girls discus with a heave of 119 feet, 5 inches. She made it out in the girls shot on Thursday with a third-place showing of 37-07.75.

West Holmes Lexy Starner captured third in the 3200 with a time of 11:37.67 and teammate Jasmine Giauque finished fourth in the 100 with a 13.06.

Meanwhile, Indian Valley's David Adams was a regional record setter in the boys pole vault with a 16 feet, 1 inch showing.

He broke the old record of 15-09 set by Cambridge's Eric Fox in 2014.

Adams went two feet higher than his opponent from St. Clairsville for the win.

The best area team finisher for the boys was Garaway with a seventh place showing of 25 points.

Garaway's Brendan Chapman finished second in the 400 with a 50.00 mark and Coshocton's Korbyn Haley was fifth with a 50.97.

Garaway's Bobby Palmer was fourth in the 1600 at 4:23.43 and River View's Sam Adams finished sixth with a 4:31.93.

Garaway's Quinten Schwartz ended up fourth with a 1:58.36, while the Pirates 4x100 team of Schwartz, Brendan Chapman, J.D. Young and Palmer finished fourth with a 3:32.15.

Ridgewood's Xavier Lamneck was second in the 300 hurdles with a 39.79 and Claymont's Grayden Mooneyham finished fourth with a 40.55.

The Ridgewood 4x400 relay of Lamneck, Kaleb Schrock, Kigenn Millender and Dalton Patterson were second with a 3:29.35.

Claymont's Alec Terakedis was fourth in the 100 with an 11.24.

Division II at Austintown-Fitch

Fairless Brody Pumneo finished third in the 800 with a 1:56.42 in the Division II regional at Austintown-Fitch.

The top four qualifiers in each event automatically qualified to the state meet next week.

Luke Yoder placed sixth in the 200 with a personal record of 22.23 and has himself in contention for an at-large bid to the state meet.
