Despite some changes that may not satisfy enthusiasts, the 2025 Civic and its base 2.0-liter engine still deliver top-notch satisfaction.
The Honda Civic Sport still uses a 2.0-liter inline-four, albeit a different one than before.
This new four-pot runs on the more efficient Atkinson combustion cycle.
The downside? Reduced output.
The Civic Sport now makes 150 horsepower and 133 pound-feet of torque, respective decreases of eight and five.
The manual transmission option is now gone from all non-Si and
Type R variants, leaving only a continuously variable automatic.
At the test track, the Civic Sport reached 60 mph in 8.9 seconds, 0.1 second slower than the outgoing base Civic.
EPA fuel economy estimates are up, though, although only by 1 to 2 mpg.
The Atkinson-cycle engine is dramatically more refined though.
In addition to the engine's smoother operation, our microphones found a six-decibel drop in interior noise at wide-open throttle.
