Mini has debuted the next-generation Countryman SUV, which premieres with sharper exterior styling and electric powertrains.
The fresh-faced Countryman SUV is making its debut at the 2023 IAA auto show in Munich, Germany.
While less rounded than before, the Countryman still wears a distinctly Mini design, with a boldly outlined grille, trapezoidal headlamps, big wheels, and a floating roof.
The Countryman is slightly larger than before, with a longer wheelbase too, but it's still pretty small.
The rear end features large chrome lettering that spells out the SUV's name and emphasizes the Countryman's width.
The show car wore handsome wheels with rose gold detailing that we hope to see on the production model when it goes on sale next year.
Both a front-wheel-drive E model and an all-wheel-drive SE All4 will be offered, but it's unknown if the U.S. will receive both.
The more potent SE offers 308 horsepower, but its estimated range is lower at 225 miles per charge. The E, which may not come to the U.S., has a higher range estimate of 240 miles but makes just 201 horsepower.
Around the back, the Countryman's new design calls for updated taillamps, but Mini kept the brand's signature Union Jack lighting theme.
The new Countryman's larger shape means more room inside for people and cargo, but don't expect it to haul as much as a mid-size SUV.
The exterior of the show car was decked out in rose gold accents, including the updated Mini logo above the Countryman's grille.
