The city car is having a rough go of it. While electrification and demands for greater safety have seen cars grow in both size and mass, at least one company is trying to give the city car a revival. The Microlino EV is technically a quadricycle, but its incredibly small footprint, clever ergonomics, and adorable aesthetics could be just the thing for folks trying to find a modern version of BMW's classic Isetta.
Measuring 99.2 inches long and 58.0 inches wide, the Microlino is slightly smaller than the Smart car the States first got in 2008.
As you may have guessed, the Microlino borrows some of its look from BMW's classic Isetta.
The Microlino isn't technically a car; it's classified as a quadricycle.
Being a quadricycle allows the Microlino to skip some of the more onerous regulations cars must meet.
The little fabric roof might be our favorite part of the Microlino.
This little machine whirs its way up to a top speed of 56 mph.
However cute it may be, there's a distinct lack of sophistication to the Microlino.
Instead of putting the vehicle in Park, all you do is yank the handbrake. There is no stability-control system either.
With its largest battery, the Microlino offers up to 143 miles of range, according to the European WLTP test cycle. That equates to roughly 120 miles, according to the U.S.'s EPA methodology.
