The Polestar 2 electric hatchback has received adjustments for each model year it's been on sale, but 2024 is easily the biggest update yet. The single-motor base model gets an entirely new powertrain layout, while dual-motor models pick up additional hustle as well. All variants save for the Performance get a range increase, too, and one of the popular options packages sees a nearly 50 percent price cut.
The 2024 Polestar 2 makes some big adjustments across the lineup.
The single-motor base variant is now rear-wheel drive, instead of front-wheel drive.
A new electric motor on standard models puts out 295 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque.
The single-motor model's battery grows to 79.0 kilowatt-hours of usable capacity, boosting EPA-estimated range from 270 miles to 320.
Dual-motor cars rely on the same 75.0-kWh battery as before, but the front motor can now disconnect under certain conditions, providing a small boost to EPA range.
The dual-motor Polestar 2 now makes 416 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the Performance trim, and that output rises to 449 horses and the same 546 pound-feet.
The Polestar 2's exterior looks a little different, thanks to a revised grille design that better highlights where the forward-facing tech is.
The 2024 Polestar 2 starts at $51,300 for the single-motor variant, with dual-motor setups starting at $56,700.
