The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is still available with a six-speed manual transmission, as either a no-cost option (SR trim) or conferring savings as high as $1100 (TRD Off-Road). Toyota doesn't expect a huge take rate, but it's still committed to manual-transmission pickup enthusiasts—for now.
The 2024 Tacoma's six-speed manual transmission is available on the workhorse SR trim, the TRD Sport, and this: the TRD Off-Road.
Manual trucks don't look different outside, but the interior is another story.
What's that we see? Three pedals and a manual shifter in a pickup truck? Indeed, and this is the last one on the market.
The tall console means that the Tacoma's shifter is relatively short, by pickup standards.
That little "iMT" light lets you know you've engaged automatic rev-matching on downshifts.
That clutchless start button on the right enables starting the engine with the truck in gear and the clutch engaged. The starter motor gets the truck moving so it doesn't have the chance to roll back on a trail.
Pressing iMT engages automatic rev-matching. The four-wheel-drive system is part-time, without an automatic AWD mode.
We'd expect the manual Tacoma to lag the automatic in acceleration, but it gets an identical 6400-pound max tow rating.
