The upcoming new M5 will spawn a Touring (wagon) variant, and for the first time ever, that body style is being sold in the United States.
We had a chance to get an early go in the 2025 BMW M5 Touring prior to its official unveiling.
The new-generation M5 Touring goes by the codename G99.
Like its sedan counterpart, the 2025 BMW M5 Touring uses a plug-in-hybrid powertrain.
A twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 makes 577 horsepower on its own.
Combine the V-8's output with that of the electric motor housed within the eight-speed automatic transmission and you get 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.
As in the sedan, the M5 Touring's EV driving range is estimated at 25 miles.
The BMW M5 sedan should arrive before the end of the year, with the M5 Touring hitting our shores in early 2025.
