  • Volkswagen will base the number of ID.Buzz dealership allocations using previous ID.4 sales, per a story by Automotive News.

  • VW dealers will reportedly receive one or two vans, and the size of their market will also play a role in allocations.

  • The electric Microbus is set to arrive around Thanksgiving, with a base price of $61,545.

Volkswagen dealerships that want priority ID.Buzz allocations will be deemed worthy based on their ID.4 sales, according to Automotive News. Along with each dealer's market size, VW will prioritize those that had the most success selling the compact electric SUV.

When the new Buzz finally goes on sale sometime around Thanksgiving, dealers will receive one or two vans. CEO of Volkswagen America Pablo Di Si told AN that the company expects the Buzz to have extremely strong sales in the first two years. "Then you need to have innovations and different versions, that we have in the books, and you need to keep it interesting, need to keep it lively," he said.

The ID.Buzz will only be sold on our shores with the longer wheelbase and either rear- or all-wheel drive. As with the ID.4, the Buzz rides on VW's Modular Electric Drive (MEB) platform. The standard models come with a single, rear-mounted electric motor that makes 282 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive variants are equipped with a second front motor and generate 335 horsepower.

The increase in power decreases the van's EPA-estimated range ever so slightly, with AWD models good for 231 miles compared with 234 miles for rear-drive versions. ID.Buzz pricing starts at $61,545 for the entry-level Pro S model and ranges up to $71,545 for the top-spec First Edition with all-wheel drive.
