- German Handling and Safty, Excellent Finish Quality and Materials
- Factory Tires and touchy brakes,
I've owned my 2008 VW Jetta SE for just about a year now. Given the $20,000.00 asking price for the load of features that comes standared on the SE, It is absolutly the best value for the dollar you can find in a small car. I do work in the insurance industry and have seen countless claims presented do to auto accidents with a wide range of vehicles. I can say for a fact that VW Safe Happens slogan is genuine. I've seen first hand photos and damages from a few serious collisions involving this new body style from VW and have not seen some of the more serious injuries I've found with some other manufactures. This vehicle is one of, if not the safest vehicle in it's class. Fortunatly I have not had to have first hand experience regarding the safty features with my own VW. However having witnessed them however through my occupation however does fill me with confidence about my safty while driving. Regarding my VW, I drive about 45 miles a day back and forth to work and average 25 miles a gallon. (I fill up about every 300 miles). Seats are comfortable and the heated seats (standard) are a must in the midwest. Great handling and quality, Enging is a little loud (however I like that). My only complaint is the brakes are a little "grabby" yet i think lack some stopping power. Also the stock tires are terrible in bad weather and lack the grip that really shows off the German handling. With proper tires however, braking will likely improve. Overall It's a must consider option for anyone looking for a small car.
