SUVs appeal to the family buyer with the inherent safety and stability of their size, so who better to make a safe stable ride than Volvo? Introduced in 2002 the XC90 has not changed drastically in its decade on the road; a testament to it's original design. Available in regular and R-Design trim, both models come equipped with a 3.2-liter Inline-6 good for 240 horsepower with standard Front Wheel Drive and optional All-Wheel Drive. To keep all seven passengers safe in the event of a rollover tall SUV's are more prone to, standard Roll Stability Control uses a gyroscopic sensor to measure lean angle and cut engine power or apply individual brakes to regain balance. RSC also functions as part of Volvo's Roll-Over Protection System that activates seat belt pre-tensioners and inflates the three row side curtain airbags in the event a rollover actually occurs. An optional Blind Spot Information System also warns of any potentially unseen traffic to avoid a panic maneuver in the first place. The optional dual screen rear entertainment system keeps backseat passengers entertained without having to worry about any of what's happening outside the cabin. See more... See Less

Reviews and Ratings
Overall
Pros Cons
Safety - car feels solid - construction demostrates this aspect Audio system outdated - small display screen - lacking ease of use
Interior look & comfort Rear seat - too tight, no room for anyone to sit
Style & quality & 5-year waranty Engine is underpowered; makes up for lack of power by shifting
Drives like at sedan, not an suv Ability to seal off pollutants - bad smells still get in.
4 wheel drive is great with the snow. I expected the sound system to be of a better quality
Ability to take more than 4 people in the car Turn radius-horrible when backing out
Handling / stability in adverse conditions Brake dust - lots of it & squeaking a lot
Very nice ride overall especially on long trips Location of steering wheel controls for phone, radio & cruise
I like the interior seat & trunk combinations Engine could use another 50-60 hp and better gas mileage
Vehicle exterior - love the design and color we selected ... Lack of state of art features other vehicles offer.
