The Chevy Corvette is perhaps one of the last old school American sports cars on the market today. It has a nice big naturally aspirated V8, a good old fashioned manual transmission, and a rear-wheel-driven powertrain. The team at Genovation believes it can bring the Corvette into the 21st century with electric conversions, and it's doing it one record at a time.

Last year, Genovation set an electric car top speed record in its "GXE" electric C6 Corvette, reaching 205.6 mph on a closed airstrip. Powered by a 44 kWh battery and two electric motors, it makes over 600 horsepower-that's 100 more than the car made stock.

Now, Genovation's back to set another record, this time for electric car in the standing mile. It first broke the record back in July of 2016 with a speed of 189.5, but felt the car could go faster. So using a closed piece of straight tarmac, the team was able to bring the GXE 190.4 mph, surpassing its previous speed and setting a new world record.

Watch for yourself as Genovation takes this electrically powered C6 to triple-digit speeds without so much as a squeak from the tires.
